What is Drone LiDAR?

LiDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging, which is a remote sensing method using light in the form of pulsing lasers to measure different distances from the sensor to the Earth with precision accuracy. Over a million pulses per second are recorded, which generate precise 3D models of the Earth's surface and anything above. When a drone flies over a specific area, the LiDAR sensor sends out laser pulses that measure the amount of time it takes for the signal to return. A point cloud file is then created and used by professionals such as researchers, surveyors, and engineers that are then delivered to clients for many different uses.
